20 Best Horror Movie Final Girls of the 2020s (So Far)

Companion's Iris (Sophie Thatcher) may be the only non-human on this list, but that doesn't make her any less of a Final Girl.

As is revealed at the end of the first act, Iris is actually a companion robot being rented by her "boyfriend" Josh (Jack Quaid), who plans to use her as part of a scheme to steal money.

As a result, Companion is centered around a most unique and unexpected heroine - one who is forced to swiftly come to terms with the true nature of her existence, one where she's quite literally controlled by someone else via an app.

But Iris fights to win her freedom against seemingly insurmountable odds, and boy, she fights hard.

There's an obvious analogue to abusive, controlling relationships here as Iris eventually extricates herself from Josh's literal, app-assisted control, refusing to become a victim as she charts a hopeful path forward to parts unknown at film's end.
