20 Awesome Horror Movies NOBODY Talks About

May Angela Bettis

One of the best horror films to make the least money is surely Lucky McKee's incredible 2002 film May, which stars the ever-brilliant Angela Bettis as a traumatised young woman whose attempts to connect to other people have disastrously violent results.

McKee's film is far more than your average slasher - a weird and at times strangely affecting, sad film about loneliness and obsession that, for all of its surrealness, still has a beating human heart at the core.

This is a credit to both McKee's perceptive writing and Bettis' phenomenal performance - a turn that, in a better universe, would've catapulted her to tremendous fame. The wider ensemble cast is terrific too, including Jeremy Sisto, James Duval, and Anna Faris.

While May is fondly regarded in hardcore horror circles, it's not known nearly enough in the wider genre sphere, no matter that it's one of the most impressive fusions of slasher flick with deep-dish character study ever put to film.
