20 Great Performances Wasted In Terrible Horror Movies

14. Julianne Moore - Shelter

Shelter - or 6 Souls as it was known in some territories - is one of the worst-reviewed horror films of the entire 2010s, and a not-remotely-unexpected outcome given that it spent years malingering in post-production purgatory.

This is the sort of blandly formulaic supernatural horror flick we might be tempted to say is "giving AI slop" these days. There's absolutely nothing memorable or interesting about it, least of all its predictable twist ending.

But trust Julianne Moore to turn up to work and do her level-best to elevate the material regardless.

As forensic psychiatrist Dr. Cara Harding, Moore does everything in her power to bring depth and feeling to both her character and the story, neither of which have much meat on their bones, to be kind.

It's absolutely a film that sticks out like a sore thumb in Moore's typically consistent filmography, but she sure didn't just turn in the bare minimum required.
