Best Popular Film Oscar: 10 Most Likely Nominees
8. Mission: Impossible - Fallout
It's an extremely rare feat for the sixth entry in a franchise to be the best, but Mission: Impossible - Fallout achieved it against massive odds, serving up a deliriously entertaining, energetic and nerve-wracking spy romp driven by Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill's tenacious performances and an abundance of terrifying practical stunt-work.
Many critics have even deemed it one of the greatest action films ever made, while scoring some of the strongest reviews and sturdiest box office legs of Cruise's career to date.
Chances Of Winning: Fallout has been something of a breakout success, with even those with little interest in the franchise or Tom Cruise being swayed by the stunning reviews.
That said, the "weirdo factor" will always be a problem for Cruise, as a lot of the general public won't vote for him or even see his movies simply because of his eccentric personal life.
It's probably the main reason why he's never had a billion-dollar movie, really, and why he possibly never will.
