Best/Worst Case For 15 Summer Movies (With Predictions)
5. Spider-Man: Far From Home
Release Date: July 2nd
We thought Avengers: Endgame would be the end of the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Kevin Feige recently stated that honor will fall on Spider-Man: Far From Home. This movie is a certified money maker, but what will we actually get from this sequel? Will it be filler or set the stage for what's next in this expanded universe?
Best Case: Spider-Man has been one of the most popular characters since the 1960s and Spidey never had a better year than 2018. Spidey may not highlight an Oscar-winning film or a top-selling video game, but there is serious momentum for the web-slinger. Spider-Man: Far From Home rides a highly successful 2018, Avengers: Endgame and an extended opening weekend to the first billion-dollar gross in the franchise.
Worst Case: After the emotional rollercoaster that is Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios may just play it safe with this sequel. The Homecoming follow-up gets complacent and is a by the numbers MCU flick.
Prediction: Spider-Man: Far From Home is perhaps the easiest entry here to forecast. There is a pretty high bare minimum with Spider-Man and MCU flicks. This movie will make around $850 million and boast an 80ish on Rotten Tomatoes.
