Best/Worst Case For 15 Summer Movies (With Predictions)

Chucky isn't the only terrifying doll that will grace the silver screens this summer. Unlike Child's Play, however, Annabelle is currently at a high point. Annabelle Comes Home will be the third film in the franchise and will further connect the Conjuring Universe. The shared universe following the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren has been one of the most ambitious and successful efforts in Horror to date.

Best Case: Annabelle: Creation was a major improvement on the 2014 original and there is no reason another step forward can't be taken. The movie's premise also suggests elements from other Conjuring films will be in play here and could yield added reward for those invested in this universe. Annabelle Comes Home builds on the two previous films and usurps the Conjuring as the best series in this shared universe.

Worst Case: This is still a horror series we're talking about here and these things tend to go off the rails relatively quick. Annabelle Comes Home could jump the shark and lean too heavily on its premise while relying too much on jump scares, which would be a major step backwards for this universe.

Prediction: Annabelle Comes Home figures to be a solid outing and will recoup more than its budget. It won't be a flop and the Conjuring Universe will move right along.
