4. Dolittle
One of 2020's few flops which doesn't have a pandemic asterisk next to it, the Robert Downey Jr.-starring Doctor Dolittle reboot was released in January 2020, roughly two months before cinemas were shut down around the globe.
The mega-budget family adventure film was clearly greenlit to the tune of almost $200 million amid the belief that the film couldn't fail with one of cinema's biggest stars leading the charge.
But oh how wrong they were.
Dolittle topped out at a paltry $251 million, a result of not only the general lack of interest in a new Doctor Dolittle, but also a disastrous production punctuated by costly reshoots, poor marketing, bad reviews, and releasing opposite the decidedly better-received Bad Boys for Life.
At the time Dolittle was a highly questionable project, and almost seven years removed from its release it continues to baffle that anyone thought it was a good idea.
