Bill Nighy: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

4. Davy Jones - Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest & At World's End (2006 - 07)

Regardless of the quality of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels (shot back-to-back in a guaranteed move to lessen their worth) one stand-out, positive element can be agreed upon. Fans of the franchisee will tell you that Bill Nighy€™s turn as the be-tentacled Davy Jones is a masterclass in slithering, slobbering, Scottish villainy (an accent that he would return to with less success later on, as you will find further into this list). Although the performance dates back to 2006, the motion capture on display was firing on all cylinders, and puts to shame a lot of similar effects work in recent years. What's more is that Nighy€™s turn as Davy Jones is perhaps the only other example of perfect symbiosis between actor and SFX other than Andy Serkis & Gollum. And that€™s saying something.
