Bill & Ted 3 Trailer Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down

4. The Focus On Bill & Ted

Another pitfall of modern day sequels/reboots/remakes is that the concept is more important than the characters who helped build it - something that often paves the way for follow-ups that sideline (or remove) the original characters in favour of a new generation. We've seen it happen with the likes of Ghostbusters '16 and Terminator: Dark Fate and, in spite of how fun those films could be, they just missed the entire points of their franchises.

With that in mind, it was refreshing to see from the Bill & Ted 3 teaser that Face The Music actually keeps the spotlight firmly on the titular characters. Yes, there is a next generation there - their daughters Billie "Little Bill" Logan and Theodora/Thea "Little Ted" Preston - but the plot revolves around their respective fathers' escapades... as it should.

A bodacious and refreshing development for classic franchise sequels...
