Birds Of Prey - 10 Reasons To Be Excited

3. The Film Has Its Own Unique Tone

The MCU has worked hard over the years to lock-down and streamline a family-friendly humour that has proven to be tremendously successful throughout its history. The DCEU, on the other hand, began with more sombre and broody aesthetics in its initial efforts, like Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

While not inherently bad, those choices were controversial and have led to Warner Bros. rearranging their own cinematic universe.

With wonderfully light-hearted outings, such as Aquaman and Shazam!, along with the sobering Joker film, striking the right tone for the right movie (rather than conforming to a uniform one) has proven to be a worthwhile venture. Birds of Prey looks to be no exception, with the trailer highlighting the comical goofiness of Harley Quinn, with her signature hyena and zany fashion sense, while also not shying away from the brutality of Gotham and the Birds of Prey themselves.

Blending these tones will be crucial to making this crossover succeed, and fans can hope that this will ease the DCEU into a newer, more varied era.
