Birds Of Prey: Everything We Know About The DCEU's Harley Quinn Spin-Off

When it comes to Batman films, at times the villains can feel a bit recycled. How many Jokers, Catwomen, and Riddlers have we seen over the years? Thanks to the expanding DCEU, other members of the Rogues Gallery will finally be explored.

Black Mask is one of the more interesting, unexplored, Batman villains. Born into a wealthy family, Roman Sionis grew up feeling resentful of his apathetic parents. Though his family disliked the Waynes, they kept it to themselves for the sake of social propriety. His family's obsession with appearances eventually caused Roman to snap and burn down their estate, with his parents inside.

From there he becomes the villain known as Black Mask, due to the mask he wears as a taunt at the way the rich class wears emotional masks around one another. This villain brings something personal to the Batman comics because he is someone Bruce has known his whole life. He's someone who has many similarities with Bruce, other than how they reacted to their tragic upbringings.

In Birds of Prey, he's portrayed as one of Gotham's most notorious crime lords, pulling the financial strings for the other villains of Gotham.
