Black Christmas Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

4. It's Terribly Directed & Edited

Even were the film's script up to par, it'd still have to deal with a sloppy directorial job from indie filmmaker - and the film's co-writer - Sophia Takal, who clearly lacked the skill necessary to make sense of the thrown-together screenplay.

It's painfully clear that she didn't get enough basic coverage of scenes due to the choppy and often nonsensical nature of the editing, especially during the film's action sequences, which are cut into incomprehensible oblivion for the most part.

There are also countless shots where ADR dubbing is blatantly visible, with actors' mouths either not moving in sync or perhaps not even moving at all.

It adds up to a slipshod end result that, during its more intense moments is actually quite the headache to watch.
