Black Mirror: Bandersnatch Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs

1. It's An Ambitious Storytelling Experiment

Bandersnatch sure isn't perfect and certainly could've done more with its concept, but it's hard not to respect the ambition in even attempting something so headache-inducingly complex from a technical perspective.

Given that most prior attempts at CYOA stories and FMV games have turned out cheesy and unconvincing, it's impressive just how persuasive the storytelling and overall production quality is.

It's a major step up, creating a space with plenty of room for improvement, yet possibly being the start of an incredibly rewarding trend for audiences (and a lucrative one for Netflix, no doubt).

If this was just a one-off experiment, it'd be a massive shame, but considering the strong reviews and feverish social media engagement so far, it seems likely we'll see another in the near-future.
