Black Widow may have been the long overdue full stop on Natasha Romanoff's story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she was ever so slightly outshone by her little sister, Yelena. Florence Pugh's character stole the entire show, and if Marvel Studios are smart, they will do everything they can to keep her around for as long as possible.
Naturally, Yelena shared many traits with her Avenging sister. She was hilariously sarcastic, had a no nonsense attitude towards just about everything, and thanks to her training in the Red Room and the life she was forced to life since, she is an absolute badass. She wouldn't have looked out of place with the Avengers herself.
It may have taken Natasha some time to truly become a great part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Yelena has been able to enjoy a very, very strong debut without suffering the over-sexualisation that Natasha did. From minute one she has been taken seriously, and even made fun of her sister's poses.
Florence Pugh's incredible acting chops also allowed her some truly emotional moments, striking a perfect balance between being funny and genuinely moving. Even before Valentina showed up in the movie's post credit scene, it had been reported that Yelena will be making an appearance in Hawkeye on Disney+. Hopefully, this is the first of many more times MCU fans can enjoy the wonderful Florence Pugh.
