1. It Could've Been Even More Subversive

Blockers is a clever, expectation-defying film in many areas, though it's safe to say that the subversion could've gone even further, especially in regard to the film's depiction of teenage boys.

Though the three central male characters on the other end of the sex pact surprisingly don't turn into horndog toolbags by the end of the movie, there was definitely room here to depict them with greater complexity.

Yes, the young women are the focus, but it would've been interesting to see one of the three boys perhaps decide that they weren't yet ready to have sex, upending the long-held stereotype that boys are all irrepressibly horny.

The more down-the-line approach to the film's male characters isn't a huge issue, but it would've made the film feel even smarter and more in touch with today's youth.

These minor gripes aside, Blockers is one of the funniest studio comedies of the last few years, and here's why...
