Blockers Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

5. The Humour Is A Winning Mix Of Gross-Out & Satire

There's a great variety of comedy in this film which should allow it to play well across a wide spectrum of audiences and tastes. There's a ton of gross-out humour, sure - namely an infamous sequence in which John Cena "butt-chugs" a bottle of beer - but it's balanced out by a wealth of satirical humour regarding parenting and sexuality in particular.

There's also a pile of pop-culture references to soak in - the most hilarious perhaps being a quick nod to The Dukes of Hazard - and it all feels organically sewn into the script rather than forced as it so often does in movies such as this.

If you like your comedies loud, crude and also clever, Blockers serves up a varied selection of laughs, and is sure to be one of the year's most quotable films.
