Blood Father Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Second Act Sags A Little
Blood Father Mel Gibson

As sharply-paced as most of the film is, it does begin to slow down a little in the second act, as John (Gibson) and his daughter Lydia (Erin Moriarty) find themselves lying low from their relentlessly pursuing foes.

Here the pithy one-liners and insane action slows down a little to give the characters a breather, and while probably well-deserved, it does grind things to a halt and feels a little like padding in a movie that honestly doesn't really need it and seemed to be just fine going full-throttle.

Again, it's hardly terrible in any way, but simply a jarring gear-change from the prior madness.
