Craig's Bond has had his share to endure throughout the films he has played the role. Craig's portrayal has shown a character who while being very skilled at what he does, is still a human being, who will make mistakes on occasion and will not always be triumphant. In Casino Royale, Bond and Vesper fall for one another, and while it is revealed that Vesper is not forthright with Bond in her true intentions, the combination of feeling betrayed and not being able to save her is a lot for him to deal with. In Quantum of Solace, Bond is not able to save fellow MI6 agent Rene Mathis, played by Giancarlo Giannini. Given his line of work, death is a high probability for Bond on every mission and for his acquaintances. Bond shows bravery in dealing with the challenges he has to overcome throughout the three films that have featured Craig as 007.
