Bond 24: 5 Reasons Why Sam Mendes Should Return
3. He's Already Set Up "His" Bond Series Ok, this next piece is going to be a little SPOILER heavy, just in case you haven't seen Skyfall but are still intrigued by what reasons there are to keep Mendes onboard with the franchise. The short short version, without any elongation at all, is the fact that Sam Mendes has helped shape the universe of this reboot in a way that allows the Bond series to continue down its path of properly rebooting the world. That warning in mind, what follows is a direct spoiler for Skyfall. After the events of Skyfall, the Director successfully installed Ralph Fiennes (who's signed on for two more films) as the new M, Naomie Harris (who's also signed on for two more films) as the new Moneypenny, and Ben Whitshaw (again, two more films) as the new Q. Rory Kinnear's Tanner will undoubtedly remain, but what's also interesting is that Daniel Craig is only signed on for two more films as well. So now that there's a very strong foundation set for the next couple of Bond films, it would be nice if we could keep a director in the chair for at least two more films. With Mendes at the helm for at least two more films, the new continuity can be rebuilt to a point that the series can stand on its own two feet once more. Though, to be fair, this should also require John Logan's participation as well, seeing as Purvis and Wade have officially exited the series, and Logan is still on the payroll for, at the very least, Bond 24. All of the pieces are here, and Mendes is the key to making them work like they did before.
