Bright Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs
Ups...
3. Will Smith & Joel Edgerton's Solid Performances
There are two constants in this film that are consistently entertaining, and that's Will Smith and Joel Edgerton in the lead roles. For all of the film's flaws, they absolutely give it their all and make for a fun double act, not remotely embarrassing themselves or just lazily phoning their work in.
Smith is, well, exactly what everyone expects from him here, and that's not a bad thing, while Edgerton is his more sympathetic and intriguing foil, and together they make for a compelling duo who clearly deserve a much better script.
Basically, if Edgerton and Smith aren't paired up again in the sequel, there's no point even bothering.
