Bumblebee: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

1. A New Director

If you were told that an Academy Award nominated animator who has worked on all of Laika Entertainment's projects, even directing 2016's Kubo and the Two Strings, was to take on directing duties of a Transformers spin off, you would probably laugh yourself silly.

And you'd have right to. Travis Knight has proven himself a more than capable director with Kubo, and nobody expected him to take on Bumblebee of all things. After two trailers, however, we have seen absolutely nothing but fresh ideas and boundless potential.

Knight is first and foremost an animator, a filmmaker who has experience in giving the lifeless life - perhaps one of the most important and invaluable traits a director of a film about walking cars could possibly have in making the experience so much more than just an assortment of explosions, set pieces and CGI battles.

For the sixth film in a franchise of gaudy, increasingly stale action movies, Travis Knight seems to be the man to turn it around, and make Bumblebee a fun, visually stunning romp that is - if nothing else - certainly a film to be excited about.
