Bumblebee: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

9. The Human Element

Bumblebee movie

The human characters of the Transformers films have always been some of the franchise's weakest points; Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky and Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager were suitable human protagonists (each had their merits and detriments), but ultimately they paled in comparison to the characters and stories found in the titular Transformers.

This lack of investment in the human stories of the franchise seems to be something that Bumblebee sought to change with protagonist Charlie Watson (played by the incredibly talented Oscar nominee, Hailee Steinfeld), shaping up to look like a hero far more sympathetic and likeable than any we've seen yet.

Throw in a touching friendship between Charlie and Bumblebee, and side characters who don't seem to be annoying stereotypes, and we have a cast of human characters that could be far more engaging and interesting than any seen in the series thus far.
