10 Movies That Just Got Cancelled
1. Max Landis' G.I. Joe
If cinema has proven anything, it's that Hollywood sure doesn't know what to do with the G.I. Joe franchise, but Hasbro and Paramount are sure as hell going to keep trying.
After all, 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts concluded by hinting at an impending Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover film, and while that project hasn't gained much traction, in February it was revealed that a new G.I. Joe movie was being developed by controversial writer Max Landis.
Landis, best known for penning films such as Chronicle, American Ultra, and Bright, saw his career implode in the late 2010s when a string of sexual and emotional abuse allegations were levelled against him.
Landis was swiftly dropped by his representation and various in-the-works projects were abruptly scrapped.
G.I. Joe was seemingly set to be Landis' big, dubious Hollywood comeback, yet mere weeks later it was revealed that Paramount had passed on Landis' treatment for the film, quite possibly in part due to the online backlash surrounding his involvement.
The studio is still pursuing other potential G.I. Joe projects, including one being written by Danny McBride, but whatever the Landis version was going to be, we won't ever see it.
