10 Movies That Just Got Cancelled

When James Gunn's DC Universe was first announced back in January 2023, one of the first named projects was The Authority - a film based on the superhero supergroup of the same name, which counts among its membership the likes of Doctor, Swift, Apollo, Jenny Sparks, Midnighter, the Engineer, and Jack Hawksmoor.

Last year Gunn suggested that development on the film was coming along slowly due to the inherent difficulty of adapting The Authority to the big screen, though also swatted away rumours that the movie had been cancelled.

But a lot can evidently change in a few months, as in April Gunn more-or-less confirmed that The Authority had been binned - or in the very least placed on the distant back-burner.

Gunn stated that the script "wasn't quite there" and didn't cohere with the rest of the DCU, and while it could still happen one day, it wouldn't be soon.

Considering the DCU really needs to be knocking it out of the park with mainstream mainstays like Superman and Supergirl, it's probably fair enough to shutter more niche projects like this - at least for now.
