10 Movies That Just Got Cancelled

2023's Gerard Butler and Mike Colter-starring action thriller Plane was one of the more surprising critical and commercial hits of recent years, enough that just a month after the Dad Movie's release, a sequel was confirmed.

Hilarious, Plane 2 was actually going to be called Ship and focus on Colter's character Louis Gaspare immediately following the events of the first film.

As for Butler? He remained onboard as an executive producer and pondered making a cameo appearance, though back in February it was announced that Ship had been abruptly cancelled.

According to Colter himself, the sequel was literally two weeks away from shooting when Butler decided he didn't want to be involved, and because Butler's production company G-BASE played a huge part in the film's development, his departure ultimately caused the entire project to disintegrate.

No word on why Butler backed out, but considering that Plane tripled its budget at the box office and was a massive hit on streaming, it feels like a whole lot of money is being left on the table here.
