Cannes 2015: 10 Potentially Incredible Films In Competition

3. Youth

Youth Fans of international cinema are more than likely to be familiar with the films of Paulo Sorrentino - his previous movie The Great Beauty picked up the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at this year's Oscars. Returning to an English language production for the second time in his career, Sorrentino's Palme d'Or entry Youth sees Michael Caine taking on the role of a retired orchestra conductor who, while holidaying in Switzerland with his daughter and her friend, is invited by Queen Elizabeth II to perform at Prince Phillip's birthday party. Caine looks incredibly similar to Tony Servillo's character in The Great Beauty, and perhaps Youth will share similar themes in its dissection of an ageing man who has lived a life at the epicentre of high culture. If the trailer is anything to go by it'll be just as visually striking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJmKymMFuhA#t=11
