Cannes 2015: 10 Potentially Incredible Films In Competition

4. My Mother

Another director in competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival who isn't a stranger to the Palme d'Or is Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti - he picked up the award back in 2001 for his film Caro Diario. His latest feature bears more than a passing resemblance to the premise of another truly great work of Italian cinema, Federico Fellini's 8 1/2. Like that film, My Mother follows the events surrounding a film director in a period of crisis as he struggles to keep his production together while shooting with a famous actor (played by John Turturro). My Mother is likely to be far more grounded than Fellini's dreamy, abstract masterpiece - although whether or not it is injected with Moretti's left-leaning political streak remains to be seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGtT3H1rBjI
