Captain America 2: 20 Easter Eggs, References & In-Jokes You Need To See

1. The Tarantino Easter Egg

The single greatest Easter Egg in comic book movie history - and that is some accolade. In the final moments of the film, we see a symbolic tooling down sequence in which Nick Fury relinquishes his public role and goes underground, even burning his eye-patch. The only people who know he is alive are either trusted, or dead, so Fury stays dead himself. That sequence makes way to a scene in a cemetery, where we see Fury's grave, which comes with a brilliant touch: an epitaph that carries his name and a simple, single line:
"The path of the righteous man... Ezekiel 25:17."
The Russo's spoke to Topless Robot about the inclusion, confirming that they didn't know if Tarantino was aware of the Easter Egg, and that it came as a late inclusion:
"And that was something that actually came in at the last second. We were struggling. We probably did 10 iterations of what...epitaph should be on that gravestone, and I think we were sitting in the VFX review, and I think it was our - I think it was Dan Deleeuw, the effects supervisor who came up with the idea."
Where To Watch Out For It Just before the end of the film - or at least the point where the credits roll, and before the two mid- and post-credits scenes - when Falcon pledges his allegiance to help Cap find and recover Bucky.
