Captain America: Civil War - 10 Biggest Moments Of Foreshadowing
8. Brock Rumlow's Charred Body (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)
Thinking of the Civil War comic book arc, the villain who is most likely to spring to mind is Crossbones, thanks to his key involvement in the heart-stopping climax. Although the character wasn't exactly heavily involved during the bulk of the storyline, he was involved in the assassination of Captain America in the aftermath of the whole thing. Brock Rumlow appeared in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier as a sleeper agent for HYDRA who was working within S.H.I.E.L.D. - first as an ally of Captain America, then as an opponent. He probably should have died from his wounds, but the fact that he didn't suggested even then that he'd be back. At the end of the movie, following a battle with Sam Wilson and the subsequent destruction of the Triskelion, Rumlow is seen being carried away by medics with his body horrifically burned - just like his masked alter-ego Crossbones in the comic books. This made fans think he would return as the masked villain (which he is) which, in turn, made them think of Civil War. It was, therefore, indirectly foreshadowing the event.
