Captain America: Civil War - 10 Major Reveals From The New Images

5. We Definitely Won't See Thor Or The Hulk

In the Civil War comic book, The Hulk didn't factor into the story in any way because he had been sent into outer space by a secret cabal of The Avengers months earlier. Thor meanwhile was dead, but did make a surprise appearance of sorts when it was revealed that Tony Stark had stolen one of his hairs the first time they met and created a clone/robot version of the God of Thunder he could barely control. However, as the trailer made clear, the biggest focus of Captain America: Civil War will perhaps be The Winter Soldier (someone Sebastian Stan says is, "never really going to be Bucky Barnes again" following the time he spent as a HYDRA assassin), and that means that both the Jade Giant and Asgardian hero won't be making another MCU appearance until they team up in 2018's Thor: Ragnarok. In fact, it doesn't appear as if Marvel ever even toyed with the idea of including the powerful duo. "You put those guys in a fight, it€™s over quickly," screenwriter Christopher Markus explains. "It€™s like, €˜Well, we have the Hulk on our side.€™ Oh, fine, then. You€™ve got to kind of choose your roster depending on what kind of fight you want to have." Captain America: Civil War - commonly referred to as Avengers 2.5 is already pretty crowded, so throwing these two in for the sake of it definitely wouldn't have been a good idea. Even so, it's hard to escape the feeling Marvel might have some sort of surprise in store. Bear in mind that it was Robert Downey, Jr. who told Mark Ruffalo that The Hulk will be making an appearance, and so we'll likely be waiting until this movie is released to find out whether that was a joke or not.
