Captain America: Civil War - 10 Most Hyped Moments
7. The Action
Even with personal relationships at the forefront, this wouldn't be a superhero v superhero film without some good old fashioned throwing down. But this isn't just sparring with no consequences, as Slash Film beautifully put it (with particularly mention for Ant-Man and Spider-Man)...
"Each of the insect-named heroes have their scene-stealing moments, making the fight massively exhilarating. But just as quickly as this sequence lifts you up with huge action, it tears you down when the consequences of a fight like this become all too real. Ultimately, its the impact that the action in this movie has which makes the movie as substantial as it is enjoyable."
As Birth Movies Death state, the Russos have also learned from what they've already done and have developed their approach to action to fit the grander scale:
"While the movie is full of juicy character stuff and grand emotional beats its also got some incredible action. The action set pieces evolve, so that while the first fight will remind you of the action in The Winter Soldier the final battle stops to have a moment of awesome slo-mo majesty."
Variety noted the same shift, which sounds incredibly impressive:
"The Russos handle the action with growing assurance and impressive range, shooting the early fight scenes with an almost Bourne-style handheld intensity, in contrast with the more classically framed skirmishes that follow."
