Captain America: Civil War - 10 Ways It’s Already Torn Up The Comics

3. Bucky Puts The Focus On Steve's Actions

The incident in Sokovia may be the genesis for the Superhero Registration Act, but it's the arrest of Bucky that really sees Captain America turn his back on his country and go both underground and toe-to-toe with Iron Man. Bucky's involvement at this stage of his character arc is a totally new element that Marvel Studios are bringing to the MCU's Civil War, and it's certainly a welcome addition to the narrative. What Bucky will likely do in reality is help to skew the story in Captain America's favour. The marketing material may be focused on showing the two sides of the conflict but in reality this is a Captain America story first and foremost, not a universe-wide crossover event like the Avengers films or Mark Miller's story. As an audience watching a Captain America move we have to see Cap's point of view over Tony's, and his history with Bucky is the best way for audiences to get behind his actions.
