Captain America: Civil War - 10 Ways It’s Already Torn Up The Comics
4. The Tide Won't Be Turned By Reinforcements
Anybody who has read Civil War knows that Iron Man has Captain America beaten before Namor and the Atlanteans appear to quite literally turn the tide in the rebels' favour. It would be cheap to offer a prospect like Civil War on screen and end it with a groansome ending like unexpected reinforcements however, especially involving characters who haven't been introduced yet. It looks like our teams will be going head to head and administering savage beat downs in a war of attrition instead, with the two sides grinding each other down until a winner emerges in a much more personal series of battles (unless of course a threat like Hydra emerges to unite the heroes before the film's end). Being a universe with rich continuity the MCU can't just throw new characters like Namor in at the 11th hour to resolve things. Similarly acts of war have to have consequences, and having these characters we know and love fighting, hurting and maybe killing each other is the best way to push those relationships forward.
