Captain America: Civil War - 12 Biggest Questions We Want Answered

4. How Will It Setup The Rest Of Phase 3?

After Civil War, the Marvel movies will be coming thick and fast. We're already used to them dominating the movie landscape, but that'll be doubly so with the amount of films they'll be releasing in Phase 3, which includes: Doctor Strange, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man, Thor: Ragnorak, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1, Ant-Man And The Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2, and finally Inhumans. Phew. That is an awful lot to get through in three-and-a-half years, especially considering all of the films share a universe and will interlink in some way, not least for that epic two-part Infinity War. Civil War is the film kickstarting all of that, and the events will have major ramifications down the line. Characters in it will go on to have their own solo outings, and you'd imagine all of them (or the vast majority) will be involved in Infinity War - Part 1, even if they then don't make it to Part 2. Throw in the different realm of Doctor Strange, and the ongoing Infinity Stones arc, and this film has quite a lot to do if it wants to continue those threads. How much (and in what ways) will it setup the rest of Phase 3, and how much will it be allowed to stand alone? Likely Answer: The repercussions on the team dynamic and the state of the heroes will play out across Phase 3, but the Infinity Stones are better left for other, more mystical films.
