Captain America: Civil War - 13 Big Questions From Super Bowl Spot
3. Why Are They Trying To Convince Us War Machine Is Dead?
Two Captain America trailers, and twice they've made it look like War Machine is dead, with Iron Man looking devastated and pi**ed off over his corpse. It makes sense that at least one of the heroes will die in the movie - it is called Civil WAR after all - and Rhodey is, in the grand scheme of things (aka Phase 3) a character they could kill off without dramatically altering the make-up of it all. However, the fact that it's appearing that way in the trailer makes it highly unlikely he's actually going to die. I mean, I know trailers these days can give away far too much (looking at you, Terminator Genisys, with your spoiler-y trailer and ridiculously-spelled title), but there's absolutely no way Marvel are spoiling the death of a big character in their major 2016 release. Surely fans also know this, so why are they still trying to make it look that way? Unless there's a huge curveball coming, and he is dead (but he's not), this just seems a bit pointless and too deliberately misleading.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
