Captain America: Civil War - 5 Things Learned From D23 Footage

4. Ant-Man's A Massive Cap Groupie

I really enjoyed Paul Rudd's turn in Ant-Man so it was nice to hear he popped up in the D23 footage. Rudd's appearance closed out the reel, with the affable actor awed to be meeting Captain America and Scarlet Witch. Rudd's Scott Lang exits a vehicle and begins to shake Cap's hand vigorously, professing his unmatched admiration for the hero. Being Rudd, he does it in a decidedly comic fashion. This was probably included to secure a laugh before the reel closed out (because, positive emotions people!) but it also tells us something a little extra. It's probably safe to assume that Ant-Man will now fight under Captain America's faction, and that the two will share an amusing rock star/fan relationship. The Stark/Cap bickering has been a huge part of the franchise's comic dimension, but with those two about to get very hostile, we don't think their interactions will be played jokingly much longer. It's nice to know that Rudd, who remains an every-man and pretty fresh to the heroic fold, is ready to step in and fill that breach. As the films get darker, it's vital to retain some levity, and the Cap/Scott Lang dynamic could be just the ticket.
