Captain America: Civil War - 8 Characters Who Will Be Totally Different

3. Peter Parker

Well, obviously. With a new studio, a new face, and a new franchise, the age-old character is not even in the same ballpark as his previous incarnations. Marvel made waves a few months ago when it was €“ finally €“ announced that they would be taking over the film rights to Spidey from Sony, and speculation began immediately. With Parker playing a central role in the comic book arc of Civil War, it seemed to be the perfect timing to introduce the €œnew€ character into the MCU. While it€™s been said that Spider-Man is going to play more of a cameo role in Civil War, it still begs the question of what Marvel is going to do to the beloved character, and how they will distance this version of Peter Parker from the takes of Tobey Maguire and, more recently, Andrew Garfield, while still maintaining the essence of our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. While Garfield played it closer to the wisecracking comics character than the more angst-ridden Maguire, with the MCU€™s penchant for (at times sophomoric) humour, it€™s pretty clear which direction they€™re going to go forward in from here. And with the casting of 19-year-old Tom Holland, we know that Peter isn€™t going to escape his eternal, hellish cycle of high school anytime soon. Here€™s hoping we at least get to see the badass golden spider costume from the Civil War comics.
