Captain America: Civil War - 9 Major Concerns From The New Trailer

1. It Still Feels Like Just "More Of The Same"

There was hope that with Captain America: Civil War, Marvel would change things up a bit. Like, for real. Deliver something fundamentally different from the onslaught of good but highly interchangeable movies in the MCU canon thus far. That's to say, the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe tend to feel a little factory-like in their execution - films fresh off of an MCU conveyer belt, designed to feel interconnected at the cost of them having too much of a personal voice or a specific filmmakers' stamp. So although Captain America: Civil War has superheroes fighting superheroes and an added "glum" factor that has yet to be seen in other MCU flicks, it still feels - going by this trailer, at least - like more of the same. Yes, the plot is a bit riskier and there's a darker story being told, but not really: the movie has the same look and feel as all the other MCU films, and you can tell it's another flick that has been designed by a committee (as opposed to one person). It's hard to escape the feeling of sheer inevitability with this one, regardless of the narrative twists or the consequences of the story. When will the MCU shoot for "truly different"? Those who thought it might start with Civil War appear to be in for a major disappointment. Like this article? What do you make of the trailer for Captain America: Civil War? Love it? Hate it?
