Captain America: Civil War Review - 10 Reasons It’s A Near-Perfect Comic Book Movie

5. Spider-Man Is Just The Best

Tom Holland gets more than just a glorified cameo as Peter Parker ahead of his own solo bout next year, introduced as the most comic-perfect version of the dorky high school kid and his nimble, cocky alter-ego we've ever had on screen (sorry Tobey). Holland is much closer in age to the character he's playing - at 19, he's ten years younger than Andrew Garfield was when The Amazing Spider-Man was released - and has the acrobatics to do the web-slinger justice, but everything about the character's world is great.

Despite not being gifted an extended origin (phew), the subtle reference to Uncle Ben and the "with great power comes great responsibility" mantra we do get is incredibly impactful, playing into the audience's familiarity to deliver a short-but-surprising look at teenage grief that's reflected rather heartbreakingly on his conversation partner.

It's all just so great - his house, his webbing, his suit, his quips, his swinging, even his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei is solid, if a generation away from Rosemary Harris). Homecoming just shot up my list of most-anticipated movies.
