Without a doubt, the most accomplished and downright awesome scene in The Winter Soldier comes when Nick Fury finds himself unexpectedly facing off against an army of assassins who ambush his car on the streets of New York, disguised as police officers, and will stop at nothing to get to the very important man inside. The whole sequence, which runs at around five minutes, starts when a truck collides with the side of Fury's vehicle. Dazed and confused, he tries to work out what to do whilst his assassins attempt to get at him using a large, portable battering ram. The tension levels here hit maximum overload, given that - at this point in the story - an uneasy feeling has been created that doesn't shy away from the possibility that Nick Fury won't make it out alive. When the assassins break through the vehicle's defences, then, Fury surprises them by revealing a portable gun turret, annihilating most of his attackers before launching into a nail-biting chase sequence. The whole scene is perfectly rendered, and marks one of the finest action scenes in MCU history. It's also great to see Nick Fury flying solo in his own badass set-piece! Like this article?
