9. Doctor Strange Warns Carol About The Decimation

The Rumour: An outlandish but amusing fan theory from Reddit suggested that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) would have a cameo appearance in the film, astral-projecting himself into the past in order to warn Carol and Fury about Thanos' (Josh Brolin) Decimation.

This would of course occur during Avengers: Infinity War when Strange was busy sifting through the 14,000,605 possible outcomes of their battle with Thanos, and in addition to examining the future, he'd drop off a handy hint in the past.

The theory continues that this would explain why Fury knew to hold off paging Carol until the Decimation happened, rather than calling her for help during, say, the Battle of New York or any other prior catastrophe.

The Truth: It's a cute idea, but it doesn't really hold up to even basic logical scrutiny, and so unsurprisingly, the Sorcerer Supreme was nowhere to be seen in the film. It already had plenty going on without him, so it was definitely for the best.
