2. Goose Was The "Someone" Fury Trusted

There's been a lot of chatter online that has criticised Captain Marvel's depiction of Nick Fury, but also specifically how he loses his eye. The event had been built up for years over the course of SLJ's Marvel movies, and the explanation has been found somewhat wanting by certain fans.
However, despite the obvious fact that this wasn't how Fury lost his eye in the comics, it still lines up with later Marvel canon, as well as Fury's depiction as a master manipulator.
Nick remarks in The Winter Soldier that "the last time [he] trusted someone, [he] lost an eye." While Marvel fans had taken it upon themselves to speculate endlessly regarding the backstory of said event, Fury did technically trust Goose, who unfortunately returned the favour by clawing his eye out.
