6. The Pager Issue Still Isn't Answered

While Captain Marvel does establish that Carol "improved" Fury's pager so that it would transmit over huge distances, it's not quite satisfying enough of an answer. After all, knowing how Fury got the pager wasn't half as interesting a question as why he'd never used it before.

When Carol hands it over, she tells him it's only to be used in emergencies, which the Decimation clearly is, but what about the other emergencies he didn't page her about? What made the Decimation more of an emergency than the other things threatening the Earth? Was it a lack of control?

If there'd been a line in there establishing something more specific about the circumstances it could be used in, the question would have been dealth with. As it is, we're pretty much still where we were before this film came out.
