Captain Marvel: 9 MCU Characters Who Could Appear

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan the Accuser was dead set on destroying Xandar, the home of the Nova Corps and their leader, Irani Rael. As we've been told, the Nova Corps had been involved in a long war with the Kree, which ended thanks to a peace treaty between the two sides, something Ronan refused to adhere to, too focused on enacting his vengeance on the Xandarians.

With a young Ronan set to turn up in Captain Marvel, which will feature a war between the Kree and the Skrulls, it's hard to imagine the film won't find a place for the Nova Corps somewhere as well, as the intergalactic military is unlikely to sit out such a conflict. Having a younger Irani there, not yet close to ascending to Nova Prime, feels like a no-brainer, and seeing what she achieved to make her worthy of becoming the Corps' leader would contrast well with seeing how Ronan eventually sets out on his path of terrorism.

We haven't seen Irani or the Corps since their introduction in the first Guardians film, and their off-screen defeat before the events of Infinity War has only left fans wondering who - if anyone - may be left. By bringing them, Irani, and even, potentially, the younger versions of characters like Rhomann Dey and Garthan Saal back into the fold, Captain Marvel could recontextualize their appearance in Guardians and get audiences excited for their potential return somewhere down the line.
