Captain Marvel: 9 MCU Characters Who Could Appear
3. Melinda May
Agent Melinda May has been a mainstay of the MCU since being introduced through Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in 2013. We've seen her kick ass now for five seasons, learned about the tragedy behind her nickname of "The Cavalry," and watched her come out of her shell and find solace in the teammates that have grown to become her family, culminating in her retiring from the team in order to be with Phil Coulson in his final days.
Now, to date, the crossover between the film and television sides of the MCU have been a one-way street, with film characters like Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and more all making their way to the small screen but never the other way around. It's something that's been a frustrating experience for fans of the entirety of the franchise who feel that a number of small screen heroes we've met over the years deserve to make it to the big screen, and it doesn't help that the divide between Marvel's film and television divisions has resulted in all sorts of responses to the idea of TV characters jumping to film, ranging from "It'll never happen" to "It's inevitable" and everything in between.
Including a young Agent May in Captain Marvel alongside Agent Coulson would be a fantastic way to finally tie the shows - or at least Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - to the movies. For film-only fans, her appearance wouldn't rely on needing to have seen the show, while S.H.I.E.L.D. fans would finally be appeased in getting such a connection, all while fitting perfectly into the history we know surrounding the organization, Coulson, and May herself.
