Captain Marvel Super Bowl Trailer Breakdown: 10 Things You Need To See
8. Carol Makes A Close Encounter
Given what we've seen of Captain Marvel so far, it wouldn't be disingenuous to assume that Carol's time with the Air Force - prior to her kidnapping at the hands of the Kree - will be shown in flashback. The film looks as though it'll broach Carol's entire life, dating all the way back to her childhood, but one of the more interesting moments to note involves the character in that experimental aircraft mentioned previously.
Judging from the previous trailers as well as this one, it looks as though Carol and Maria take-off in their new aircraft, encounter an alien vessel of either Skrull or Kree origin and Carol herself is then shot-down. Ejecting from the aircraft, she approaches a downed enemy fighter and is hit by a healthy dose of Kree radiation, imbuing her with a whole host of gnarly powers and resulting in her being abducted from Earth.
That's a very rough skeleton of what could actually happen in the film, but the teaser does depict Danvers being chased down by what looks to be some sort of alien ship. Given she's on the ground in her Air Force garb when she's hit by all the cosmic energy later on, it's easy to put two and two together and conclude that this encounter results in the character getting all her powers.
