Captain Marvel Trailer 2 Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

1. Space Battles

Ever since Guardians Of The Galaxy swaggered into the MCU, we've been told to expect a healthy expansion into the cosmic side of the franchise's universe. James Gunn was even employed to specifically oversee that evolution out of the third Guardians movie before those tweets turned up and the world got a little sadder.

Thus far, we've not really seen too much of that, other than in Guardians Vol 2 with the space battle between the heroes and the Sovereign's drone fleet and - to a slightly different degree - the climax of Doctor Strange. Captain Marvel looks like it's going fully intergalactic with at least one huge space-set sequence, and effects concerns aside, that's a great new thing to add to the MCU.

There's a big wide universe out there and if Marvel get that right, we can expect them to push on with their cosmic plans even more precisely (even without James Gunn). And if that means Nova and Sentry and other characters who depend on space, then it's a huge deal.
