One of the biggest questions hanging over Captain Marvel until now was whether or not they'd be able to convincingly portray Nick Fury and Phil Coulson in their younger years. CGI trickery has been used to convey de-agings before, with the most notable examples being Jeff Bridges in TRON: Legacy and the digital recreation of Peter Cushing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but both yielded mixed results.

However, what we saw of SLJ's young Fury was very convincing, with the character now sporting hair, some new makeup and - most importantly - both of his eyes.

He looks great, and considering the nineties was the decade where the actor's career really took off, it's doubly cool to see him return to that setting.
