8. Is This How Carol Loses Her Memories?

So it's clear that Carol has lost her memories since leaving Earth and joining up with the Kree, but is it possible that this machine is what's keeping those memories at bay?
It's obviously targeting her head, and given that we know Carol first gets her powers from an explosion on Earth (something the trailer also depicts), it can't have anything to do with that. Either she's being tortured, or this is the Kree's way of keeping her in their forces, which obviously raises interesting questions regarding Jude Law's character, and whether or not he's actually the original Mar-Vell.
Either way, Carol isn't having a good time in this scene, and she appears to be aware of it. Could a brief flashback trigger her return to Earth?
