Casting A Live Action Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Movie
11. Solf J. Kimblee - Tom Hiddleston
One of the main things Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is commended for is its multi-layered characters who walk a fine line between good and evil. There are heroes who make villainous choices to achieve their goals and villains who begrudgingly leave their past gripes behind to fight on the side of good.
However, there's one character who doesn't do any of that. In fact, from the very beginning of the show, it's made quite clear to everyone watching that he's just pure evil and that's Solf J. Kimblee. The Crimson Alchemist is very much like Heath Ledger's Joker. He has no real purpose other than to cause chaos and kill as many people as he can, especially if they're Ishvallans.
While there are plenty of actors who would do fantastic job of playing Kimblee, we think that Tom Hiddleston would absolutely jump at the chance to play someone so vindictive and cruel. While it's obvious following his time as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that Hiddleston would be exceptional as playing such fantastic bad guy.
Especially since, unlike Loki who actually has brief moments of redemption in his story, Kimblee has no remorse or even any interest in being redeemed for any of his actions. Hiddleston going full genocidal maniac and destroying everything in his path with utter glee is definitely something we'd love to see in this live action adaptation.
